Villa Hestia
Listing Description
This 230 m2 house is built over two floors, with a ground and second floor.
Inside, the floors are linked by a wooden staircase, but can also be accessed independently via the external entrances on each level. All rooms have large double-glazed wooden windows.
On the second floor, the floor is made of wood in the local tradition, and the ceilings are supported by pine and cypress trunks. The ground floor is marble and the ceilings are made of traditional Lefkada white wood. The paint and plaster walls and ceilings are made from natural, breathable materials. Their soothing colors create a serene atmosphere.
Interiors
On the first level there's a living room, a kitchen and a bedroom with bathroom. The living room is spacious, with exceptional views, and features a large sofa (5 seats), made from ecological materials, which can be transformed into a comfortable bed (0.90 x 2.40 m). There's also a traditional black iron wood-burning stove, TV and DVD/CD player. The kitchen, on the other side of the dining room, has a large dining table and chairs and is fully equipped with a large fridge, oven, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and coffee machine.
The bedroom has a wooden double bed (1.70 x 2.10 m), headrest and eco-material mattress. The room also has bedside tables, dressing table, wardrobe, chairs, iron and ironing board, TV, DVD and CD player.
The bed faces 2m wide picture windows that open onto a large veranda overlooking the sea and the islands of Ithaca, Cephalonia and several smaller ones. The bathroom has a whirlpool bath and hairdryer. The floors are marble and the upholstery is handmade.
Going down the wooden staircase, on the ground floor there is a central room with a sofa bed (1.40 x 2.00 m), and another sofa bed (0.90 x 2.00 m), a small dishwasher, a small fridge and a coffee machine. This area also has a separate toilet and a small closet.
On either side of this room is a bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Each room has two large single beds (1.00 x 2.10 m) which can be combined to form a double bed (2.00 x 2.10 m). This bedroom is equipped in the same way as the bedroom upstairs. The bathrooms are identical to those upstairs, and both have Jacuzzis.
The rooms have large windows that open onto a stone veranda leading to the courtyard and swimming pool.
Every room is air-conditioned. However, the region's excellent microclimatic conditions, summer breezes and local winds, the orientation of the house and the placement of exterior openings ensure natural coolness, even on hot summer days, and make air conditioning unnecessary.
The exteriors
The house has a 4 x 10 m swimming pool with a depth of 0.80 to 1.7 m and steps. Around the pool is a 140 m2 area with sun loungers and parasols. The garden also features an outdoor dining area. Parking is available in front of the house.
The magnificent private beach of Ammoudi lies below the house. A short hike is required to reach the beach. The hike takes about 15-20 minutes if you're an experienced hiker or want to make it a pleasant workout. It takes about 25-35 minutes if you want to enjoy nature and take it easy. The descent is slippery and requires careful steps and attention, while the ascent is easier in terms of technicality, but more exhausting.
Situation
The villa's location is 3 km from the village of Ponti-Vassilik, making it one of the most (if not the most) peaceful spots on the island.
The famous Porto Katsiki, the lighthouse and other major attractions are just a 5-15 minute drive away.
